Duke Energy will appoint an independent director chair-elect in the coming weeks, who will take over as chairman on January 1, 2014. Good, 54, has been Duke Energy's executive vice president and chief financial officer since 2009. She joined Cinergy in 2003 after 20 years in senior management roles and as a partner for Deloitte & Touche and Arthur Andersen.

Duke Energy has appointed Lynn as its new president and CEO after a careful selection process. The board of directors, led by Ann Maynard Gray, considered several candidates and decided on Lynn's leadership abilities and strategic vision for continued growth. Jim Hyler, board director and selection committee member, praised the committee's thoughtfulness, collaboration, and diligence. The unanimous support of Lynn demonstrates the board's unity in its vision for the company and its confidence in her as the best leader to move Duke Energy forward.

Duke Energy's CFO, Jennifer Good, has previously served as group executive and president of Duke Energy's Commercial Businesses organization. Good was responsible for Midwest non-regulated generation, Duke Energy International, Duke Energy Renewables, corporate development, and merger and acquisition activities. She expressed gratitude for the board's trust in her leadership and the company's dedicated employees.

Duke Energy's new president, Good, will ensure the company maintains its reputation for exceptional customer service and operational and financial excellence. Good will succeed John Rogers, who resigned as president and CEO in November 2012, following a 25-year tenure in the utility industry.

Lynn Rogers, who has been with the company for 10 years, has been chosen as the new CEO. Rogers expressed his support for the board's decision and expressed his eagerness to work with Lynn on a smooth transition. The selection process was led by a nine-member committee and Russell Reynolds.

Duke Energy is implementing a comprehensive clean energy strategy to achieve ambitious climate goals, including achieving 50% carbon reduction by 2030, 80% by 2040, and net-zero emissions by 2050 for Scope 1 carbon emissions, as well as net-zero methane emissions for its natural gas distribution business by 2030.

Her expertise in strategic, financial, sustainability, and governance matters, including safety performance, large-scale capital projects, transformative technologies, and crisis management, is invaluable in a highly regulated, capital-intensive industry.

Ms. Good is leading the integration of Duke Energy's climate strategy into the company's business strategy, investing in carbon-free technology, modernizing its infrastructure, and expanding efficiency and demand management systems. With extensive financial management experience, capital markets proficiency, merger and restructuring experience, and accounting and auditing skills, she has served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Duke Energy. Ms. Good also serves as past-chair of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, a not-for-profit organization promoting safety and reliability in nuclear plant operations. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in systems analysis and accounting from Miami University.

She currently serves as Chairman, President, and CEO for Duke Energy Corp., Progress Energy, Ohio, Florida, Indiana, and Piedmont Natural Gas Company, Inc. She has also served as a member of The Business Roundtable, The Business Council, and Duke Capital Partners LLC. Good is also a member of the board of nine other companies and has held various positions within her companies.
