"A highly inspirational leader with a unique background."
A trained executive coach and emotional intelligence practitioner, a former Fortune 50 executive, and a female chemical engineer with two master's degrees. A well-known author, two-time TEDx speaker, and in-demand keynote speaker, she is also the CEO and board member of Coachieve, LLC. How did this incredible adventure begin?
Since Debjani's accomplishments and honours go hand in hand with her modesty, we had to persistently uncover the tale of her quick ascent. We'll give you a fascinating look at her life in this post, beginning with her early years in Asia.
Debjani, the youngest of four females, calls her early years "lucky and blessed." Her early years prepared her for success because she was raised by devoted parents and an inspirational grandpa. In "But you don't look like an engineer!" her second TEDx Talk, she articulately describes how her grandparents and parents instilled in her a sense of grit and gravity from a very young age.
"My parents and grandfather helped me build 'grit and gravitas' from a very young age."
The decision was obvious because I loved maths and chemistry and graduated high school at the age of 15. After thereafter, she pursued a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (B.Tech) at the renowned Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), as Lesley Stahl discussed on 60 Minutes. There were four female students in a class of 250 during her graduation year. Notwithstanding these figures, Ms. Biswas excelled at IIT Madras and received the Institute Gold Medal for her "outstanding contributions to the institute."
Subsequently, Ms. Biswas pursued graduate studies. She earned her MBA in Marketing and Organisational Behaviour from IIM Bangalore after regrettably turning down admission offers from Harvard Business School twice, first for an MBA and again for a PhD.
Before relocating to the United States, she trained and worked for several Tata companies, including the Taj Group of Hotels, Voltas, Tata Tea, and Tata Economic Consultancy Services, after being chosen to join the elite cadre of Tata Administrative Services.
Debjani lost her job as an executive at PepsiCo in 2012. Her unmet life aim of producing a book on inclusive leadership was sagely brought to her attention by her son.
After Barnes & Noble acquired her first book, "Unleash the Power of Diversity – Multi-Cultural Competence for Business Results," she embarked on a book tour across the United States. As a result, she embarked on a new professional path that involved giving inspirational keynote addresses at esteemed conferences and Fortune 500 businesses, such as Union Pacific, Chevron, TI, Ericcson, Lockheed Martin, National Summit for Educational Equity, HMS, UNH, Takeda, SHRM, NSELA, IITM, and IIMB.
